Strategic Management Journal
Volume 41, Issue 11

The winner of the SMS 2021 Video Abstract Award is “Replication Using Templates,” based on the Strategic Management Journal article by Megan Lawrence, “Replication using templates: Does the unit learn from itself, the template, or both?.” Lawrence's article investigates firms' use of templates when trying to replicate practices. Her video abstract features a personal touch as she talks through her well-narrated overview of her research. The video provides a clear description of the findings of the article, has strong appeal for all of the main audiences for SMS video abstracts, including researchers, practitioners and students, and represents the rising importance of authors plainly explaining their own work across different mediums. This video abstract was among the top abstracts viewed on the SMS YouTube channel during 2021. Congratulations to Megan!
